A doula is a modern term for a person who serves the mother and her family,
and I feel as if I have been doing this work for lifetimes.  As a doula, I become someone you trust, someone who understands you as you make the transition into your next stage of being – the stage of motherhood.
 
A postpartum doula is focused on mother/baby care—whatever that means for you. If you desperately need some rest, a postpartum doula comes over to your home to watch the baby so you can sleep and fully restore after birth. Sometimes you need an extra hand around the house, so your doula will wash and fold your laundry, do the dishes and cook a nourishing meal. Other times, older children will need some extra attention once their new sibling arrives, so your postpartum doula will mind one child or children while you take care of the other and have some bonding time. Sometimes, a doula shift can include all of the above! 
 
In my work as a doula, I have shared information on newborn sleep, taught mothers how to baby wear, reviewed what herbs are safe for breastfeeding and eased worries about what’s “normal” in this sacred window of time. I’ve also gone grocery shopping, vacuumed the house before in-laws visit, and picked up older children from school. My role is to tend to all of your needs as your family transitions and transforms. My purpose is supporting women and children, while guiding women to trust their intuitive nature of mothering. ​

 I also offer virtual postpartum support via Zoom.

​When you hire me as your virtual postpartum doula, I am available 24/7 to answer any questions about infant care & postpartum healing,  go over safe sleep & feeding practices, teach you how to swaddle & baby wear, provide postpartum meal plans and herbal steam plans and offer evidence based information on maternal health & infant development.

I am also there to help you process your birth story, encourage you and
​provide simple shifts to make your transition into parenthood easier.

Many folks choose virtual support since it is more affordable than in person care and keeps everyone safe during  this time of COVID and social distancing.

After Birth Healing 
An integral part of my doula work is facilitating healing after birth. I believe women can recover fully if they receive the proper herbs, food, and sleep. One way to tend to your self is postpartum steaming. Steaming involves sitting over a pot of heated water and allowing the herbal steam to rise towards the pelvic area. Steaming is an alternative, gentle, and safe process that can heal the perineum & reproductive organs by cleansing the uterus, opening the blood vessels and rejuvenating the tissues.

-​helps uterus contract & shrink to pre-pregnancy size-
-​aids in the expulsion of lochia (postpartum bleeding) -
