Healing After Birth With Ayurveda

An integral part of my doula work is facilitating deep healing. As an ayurvedic doula, I help mothers heal through nourishment, yoga, self care and rest

Nourishment with foods, teas, and herbs

Yoga with breath work, meditation and gentle movement

Self Care with abhyanga oil massage, belly binding, yoni steaming

Rest with newborn care, sibling help and a thorough postpartum plan

A postpartum doula is focused on mother baby care- whatever that means for you

In my work as a doula, I have shared information on newborn sleep, taught mothers how to baby wear, helped establish a proper breastfeeding latch and eased worries about what’s “normal” in this sacred window of time. I’ve also prepared meals, sanitized bottles, vacuumed the house before in-laws visit, and picked up older children from school. I’ve comforted women as they cry about the overwhelm of it all and laugh with them during baby’s first bath.

Postpartum can be full of high highs and low lows. My role is to tend to all of your needs as your family transitions and transforms. My purpose is supporting women and children while guiding women to trust their intuitive nature of mothering.

  • What Past Clients Are Saying...

"Julia was my postpartum doula. She is absolutely amazing, kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I had my baby 3 weeks early and was not really prepared... I highly recommend her!"

  • What Past Clients Are Saying...

“Julia was excellent in helping me get through two very tough weeks postpartum. At that point, my usual help from my relatives was unavailable. Julia’s assistance gave me some much-needed rest. And I learned how to wear a baby carrier so that my daughter would be more comfortable and I could be a bit more independent.”

  • What Past Clients Are Saying..

"I would recommend having a doula, especially Julia, to anyone. Her education and support have been tremendously helpful during my pregnancy, birth and beyond"

  • What Past Clients Are Saying...

“Julia was an amazing postpartum doula to our family in the first few months after our daughter was born. She is reliable, trustworthy and knowledgeable. She starting working with us when my daughter was only two weeks old and we felt comfortable with her in our home from day one. Navigating life as a family of four (with two kinds under two) was so much easier with Julia’s help!”

My Offerings

  • In-home care consists of daytime shifts, once or twice per week. Although many people consider postpartum to be the fourth trimester of 3 months, I believe mothers benefit from postpartum support anytime in the first year of baby’s life. In these shifts, I help you prioritize healing by providing newborn and sibling care, household help, meal and herbal preparation, and body work.

  • Virtual support is for those who have people around to help, but would like an expert and trusted confidant on hand, too. Virtual support looks like having someone to process your birth with, navigating postpartum life with a newborn, and receiving guidance on newborn care, breast and bottle feeding, meal plans, herbal remedies and postpartum healing.

  • Postpartum Planning Session is a 1:1 session with me, where I help you get really clear on how to have the most supportive and healing postpartum ever. I teach you the 5 pillars of a postpartum plan and how to prepare. I also share how to incorporate Ayurvedic wisdom in the postpartum period and answer any questions you may have about mother or baby care.

  • If you experienced a loss through miscarriage or stillbirth, you are still postpartum. This is an in-home or virtual offering and consists of emotional processing, yoga and meditation, meal and herbal preparation and body work to help you heal and recover during this tender time of grief.

I might be the postpartum doula for you if…

  • You’re a first time mom and feeling anxious about newborn care and after birth recovery

  • You have older children and need help balancing life with 2, or 3, or 4…

  • You have risk factors for postpartum mood disorders and want to set yourself up with support mentally, physically and emotionally

  • You want to nourish yourself with healthy meals and promote lactation with herbs but have no idea how

  • Your baby is already here and you’re struggling (no shame, it’s not always easy)

  • You have no family or friends around and need to find your “village”

  • You want to make the transition of growing a family as tender and gentle as possible
